ABOUT

TheBilns.com is the personal website of Navinder Biln, also known as nuvAE (pronounced nuv-ee). I'm jalapeno flavoured which is supposed to mean that I'm "spicy and festive."
It's also the personal website of Harp, my wife, who is blueberry flavoured. Which means she's natural, sweet, a little sporty, and as tasty as they come
. She's also the person to whom I am worth, at the time of this writing, a cool $2,221,872.00. I'm sure she'll be pleased.
With TheBilns.com having defined my bloginality as an INTJ, I'm sure Harp is getting to understand me more.
And I suppose, that in some form, TheBilns.com is also be the personal website of Taaj, our son and Junkie Smurf, and Tiia, our daughter and Jurassic Smurf
:::
TheBilns.com is powered by Expression Engine v1.4. The next generation blogging software to be released after pMachine. It's a powerful blogging tool that I highly recommend. The design of the site is constantly going through revisions and tweaks. Even after this, the third iteration.
:::
All pictures on this site are taken by Harp and I. Well mostly me, but some from Harp will creep up here. We'll almost exclusively use the Nikon D70 with an assortment of lenses and other equipment you can find here. And if you feel inclined and generous, have look at my photography wishlist. There are some great gift ideas there!!
With the odd exception here and there, TheBilns also use the Pentax Optio 550, the Fuji FinePix 2600Z, the Lomo Kompakt Automatic, the ActionSampler, the Holga, my Dads Minolta (but I forget the model).
I do take the time to colour correct the pictures and quite often, I'll play around with them in Photoshop to make them look better. You can get an idea to some of the ways I do this by checking out this post.
:::
Also, as is the nature of the internet, TheBilns.com can't guarantee that all outbound links will find their intended destination. The links worked when I found them folks, but I can only cross my fingers to hope they still work by the time you click on them.

If you have any questions, just drop me a line.

Caressing your hair like the wind through the palm trees
...
Keep on keep on keep on singing
Taj Mahal
I'm building a beautiful statue
To make sure that no one forgets you
Yeah I'm building a beautiful statue
To make sure that no one forgets you
Yeah I'll make sure that no one forgets you

Spending will make you happier, but not in the way you think. Interesting read over at Secular Philosophy.

Chrisopher Hitchens nails it yet again with this piece for Slate Magazine. After reading the piece, I’m inclined to agree with a lot of it.

When flying 35,000 feet above land, I stare down at the natural landscape and marvel at it ... and every time I fly over a city, town, etc. ... I can’t help but to think ... so this is what cancer looks like.
I know, it’s harsh, but have a look, cities and towns just don’t blend very well with the natural landscape.

According to this read over at Dailytech, the XBOX360 has a 33% failure rate! Like what?? Like how much? Like one in every three units will have hardware failure! I love my box ... and I’m touching wood it stays in with the other 66%.

Old news for some of you out there, but “Demon Days” by Gorillaz ... not bad eh? Not bad at all. Nice tunes on that list.

A 16 year old girl proclaimed she is an atheist. The reporter asked her why and she promptly replied, “I was born that way.”
Interesting ... she’s right, you know.

CURRENTLY
Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.
Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.
"Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.
As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
