PLAYING WITH PHOTOS

SILKEBORG

Silkeborg - clothing store in Downtown Oakville - Fuji FinePix 2600

I've been taking walks after having my lunch at work. The weather here, has been insanely hot. And I'm loving every minute of it. The temperature gets up to around 35C (high 90s) with the humidity. The days are allowing hobby photographers, like yours truly, to go out and get some shots. The best time of day, around 5 - 7pm, can give you some really nice shots as the natural light is softer.

At lunch time, though, the light is hard. Bright. But I thought I'd use it to my advantage and have some fun playing around with the images. You know, change them up a little. Give them a different look. I've got several of them I'll be uploading to go along with the main entries on this page. I hope you like them.

Taking pictures has now become a regular hobby with me. At any given time, any given place, I have at least three cameras. Ready for that one shot. I guess I don't want to be caught regretting I didn't have a camera with me.

Plus, having a digital camera and a website, make taking pictures so much more fun. You snap a few shots, download them onto your computer, tweak them up, upload them to your website, and within an hour, you're sharing them with the whole world! Cool, very cool.

Let's see, what else ... As I struggle to get THE DVDs section finished .. I should at least put up a "coming soon" page .. I keep finding out more exciting news about DVD's.

The Two Towers is slated to be released on August 26th. No doubt stores will be scrambling to keep the DVDs flying through the checkout registers. However, with the success of the Platinum Edition of The Fellowship Of The Ring, the makers have followed suit and will be releasing The Two Towers - Platinum Edition on November 18th. Nice!!

Knowing me, I'll be buying both editions. I don't think I'll be able to wait until November 18th to watch the movie at home. The Platinum Edition comes with 4 disks, like the first movie. And it features an additional 40 minutes of integrated footage. In my mind, being a lover of the Tolkien tale, the extra footage in The Fellowship really lended itself into explaining the story deeper. I'm sure the same will be the case with The Two Towers.

But with all the hype around The Two Towers, it still won't eclipse my excitement of buying the Indiana Jones Trilogy. It's due out November 4th. To put it simply, I'm not going to wait a second for it. I guess Harp will have to think of getting something else for my Christmas present .. wink

Another Harrison Ford film, Regarding Henry, is due to come out September 16th. This is good movie and I was surprised I liked as much as I did. I've made space for it on our top DVD shelf.

And finally, The Third Season of The Simpsons will be joining our collection on August 26th. How can you not buy this show on DVD. It's a classic.

CURRENTLY

  • Kingdom of Heaven

Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.

  • The God Delusion : Richard Dawkins

Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.

  • Hopes and Fears : Keane

"Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.

  • Gears Of War

As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
