FAMILY COMPUTING
Tiia checking out PhotoBooth
Man, I’m loving my new MacBook Pro! I’ve been spending whatever free time I’ve had over the past week installing applications I need to be able to work and do all the normal things I … heh … normally do on a PC.
The “switch” hasn’t been as easy for me as I suppose it would be for a casual PC user. I used my PC at home pretty extensively and I pretty much wanted the MacBook to replace everything I do on the PC. Getting the software for me to do just that has been a bit challenging.
But, I’ve been fortunate enough to pull a few strings and get most of the software I use on the PC for the Mac, but this hasn’t translated for all the software that I use. SE|PY, is my prime Actionscript Editor. I’ve grown to like it a lot and use it to code out all Actionscript I use in Flash Development projects.
I’m using BBEdit, at the moment, on the Mac. It seems to be the editor of choice for web developers. I was pleasantly surprised that it supported Actionscript code. We’ll see if this will continue onwards with Actionscript 3.0.
I feel the time is ripe for a good Actionscript Editor to come out for the Mac. Just about everyone and their mother was using a Mac at the recent FITC conference.
But the biggest change with owning the MacBook, has been a lifestyle change. I’ve only had this MacBook for a week now, but I can already see the benefits of being mobile while computing. But I suppose the same could be said for a PC laptop
Just about everyone has a wireless router. I can now attend family gatherings and work, instead of staying home and joining gatherings far too late in the evening, if at all.
Right now, I’m sitting with Harp next to me on her sister’s porch enjoying the breeze coming from the trees behind the house. But now I need to take picture to go along with this post. Wait a sec, I have an iSight camera …
A view from the Gill Porch
… there … hehe .. not bad eh?

Spending will make you happier, but not in the way you think. Interesting read over at Secular Philosophy.

Chrisopher Hitchens nails it yet again with this piece for Slate Magazine. After reading the piece, I’m inclined to agree with a lot of it.

When flying 35,000 feet above land, I stare down at the natural landscape and marvel at it ... and every time I fly over a city, town, etc. ... I can’t help but to think ... so this is what cancer looks like.
I know, it’s harsh, but have a look, cities and towns just don’t blend very well with the natural landscape.

According to this read over at Dailytech, the XBOX360 has a 33% failure rate! Like what?? Like how much? Like one in every three units will have hardware failure! I love my box ... and I’m touching wood it stays in with the other 66%.

Old news for some of you out there, but “Demon Days” by Gorillaz ... not bad eh? Not bad at all. Nice tunes on that list.

A 16 year old girl proclaimed she is an atheist. The reporter asked her why and she promptly replied, “I was born that way.”
Interesting ... she’s right, you know.

CURRENTLY
Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.
Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.
"Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.
As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
