HAPPY NEW YEAR
Ok, so it’s been like forever since the last I posted (November 14th). Lot’s has gone on, but first a belated Happy Holidays. We hope everyone’s Holiday Season was a good one. Ours was very good, but I think that was in large part due to the kids.
There’s something to be said for the festiveness of the time when there are kids involved. The excitement of the big day is in no short supply. Watching their faces, their eyes, as they rip open their gifts … priceless.
I had to work over the break. I couldn’t get as much done, as I wanted to. Family commitments were paramount during the time, and well, there was a lot more work involved than originally thought. Still though, it’ll be all right. Busy, but all right.
So, what’cha get? Hehe. Taaj and Tiia got a bunch of toys. Taaj got some cool games. I have to say that NHL08 (xbox360) is super awesome, but the level of involvement in that game can suck you right in. Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii is fantastic. Nintendo has pulled it off again with that game franchise. I’ll save a longer write up for that later.
Harp got a pair of leather boots, I got Lost – Season 3 on DVD. We’ve never watched an aired episode, just got caught up on the show by watching in on DVD.
We had new additions to the family. Robbie and Kiran had Sienna (their baby girl) arrive on Christmas Day. How about that for a gift? Heh … I guess shopping for that got done early. Nine months early
.
Now we’re all waiting on Khush to pop …
Did you make any resolutions? There weren’t many heard around the holidays. Personally, I’m gonna get back on the bike to shake of these five or six pounds of holiday weight. Just try to be better.
We have our home to look forward to in February. And I suppose that’s why this year, I’m not feeling the “oh no’s” after the holidays. Plus we Canadians now have an official statutory holiday to look forward too, on February 18th.
A day off to break the long layoff from Holiday Season to Easter, super cool.

Spending will make you happier, but not in the way you think. Interesting read over at Secular Philosophy.

Chrisopher Hitchens nails it yet again with this piece for Slate Magazine. After reading the piece, I’m inclined to agree with a lot of it.

When flying 35,000 feet above land, I stare down at the natural landscape and marvel at it ... and every time I fly over a city, town, etc. ... I can’t help but to think ... so this is what cancer looks like.
I know, it’s harsh, but have a look, cities and towns just don’t blend very well with the natural landscape.

According to this read over at Dailytech, the XBOX360 has a 33% failure rate! Like what?? Like how much? Like one in every three units will have hardware failure! I love my box ... and I’m touching wood it stays in with the other 66%.

Old news for some of you out there, but “Demon Days” by Gorillaz ... not bad eh? Not bad at all. Nice tunes on that list.

A 16 year old girl proclaimed she is an atheist. The reporter asked her why and she promptly replied, “I was born that way.”
Interesting ... she’s right, you know.

CURRENTLY
Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.
Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.
"Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.
As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
