HOME ENTERTAINMENT THINKING

XBOX360 :: PC Saviour?
XBOX360 :: PC Saviour?

I spent some time, earlier in the week, configuring my XBOX360 (hereafter called the X360) and getting the wireless setup working with it, when I started to think about the ways I could marry the unit with my future Mac’s … hehe. Surely there must have been attempts.

But to be honest, I’m not sure I want to even try. Instead, I think I just want to encapsulate the use of the X360. Now, what this would mean is that I would be cutting off some of the features I was using, like streaming mp3’s and movies from the PC (Windows Media enabled). It was a snap … and cool.

But with my thoughts of streaming music, playing movies, and viewing photos (among other things) with Apple TV, the X360, becomes little more than just a gaming console that can also play our DVDs and HDDVDs. And I’m totally cool with that.

As an aside, I think the X360, is a product that Microsoft got right. It’s by far the best marriage of hardware, software, and usability they have ever put out. And for that reason alone (well, that and the fact that X360 games still look and play great) I want to keep the unit as one of the central parts of our entertainment choices, hence the constant thinking about it.

XBOX360 :: Fantastic Usability
XBOX360 :: Fantastic Usability

Update: Actually, since staying here with Jeet and Deepa, and seeing how Jeet has wired up the place, and how he’s got everything working together (my computers are on the network and are screaming right alongside his), I’m having a reconsideration of sorts.

Because I don’t think I’ll be limiting what I want to do with the PC now. Despite pretty much settling on the fact that I’ll be using Apple products for the majority of our home computing and entertainment needs, as long as I have the X360 entrenched right along in with those needs, I may as well use it to it’s fullest and keep a PC to compliment it’s functionality.

Well then, Mr. Microsoft, as it turns out I’m not done with you yet … and of all things, it was your fantastic X360 that has prolonged our relationship.

Hmm … It’s fun thinking on this stuff … hehe … much more refreshing than the “other” discussions (debates?) I’ve been having. Plus, it’s a great post for you ladies eh?

CURRENTLY

  • Kingdom of Heaven

    Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.

  • The God Delusion : Richard Dawkins

    Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.

  • Hopes and Fears : Keane

    "Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.

  • Gears Of War

    As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
