MEXICO TRIP PT1
I’m blogging from seat 4A on an Airbus A319 (US Airways Flight 306). Harp is sitting next to me in seat 4B, Tiia is bouncing around on her lap, and Taaj is seated with Simrit across the isle in seats 4D and 4E.
Our current destination is Phoenix, AZ, but that’s just a way point on our way to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We’ll stay in Phoenix for about four hours before hopping on the flight for the second leg of out trip there.
Once in Puerto Vallarta, we’ll take a ride to Nuevo Vallarta and check in at the Grand Mayan Hotel, where we’ll spend the next seven days just chillin’ and taking it easy.
Needless to say, we’ve been looking forward to this for quite some time. Harp and I have both been working pretty hard. On my end alone, I can honestly say that I’ve gotten about 14 hours of sleep over the last four days. I know, not much at all.
Our family isn’t alone on this trip. We’re traveling with Harp’s two elder sisters and their families and believe me, considering the time we all had when we all went to Florida two years ago, this trip looks to show some good times.
I got a lot of questions about just how good it is to travel with such a large group. All I can really say is, when you have kids, large groups are good. Take right now, for instance. Harp is tired, I’m blogging, and her sister, Lovely, has taken Tiia to her seat. How cool is that?
It’s pretty much going to be like that the whole trip. The kids will keep themselves busy when we aren’t doing the resort things. They’ll play together which will mean we, the adults will still get to enjoy some time without the “caveats” that would come if the children were yours to watch throughout the day.

This is my, and Harps, first time to Mexico. I suppose you could count a short one hour stint to Tijuana, but I’m not. We’re not really going to be doing the touristy thing by heading out to the ruins or seeing the country. Instead, time will be spent just hanging out at the resort, playing Volleyball Tequila, floating on the river, or just laying around on the beach.
The weather doesn’t look like it’s going to be insanely hot. In fact, earlier, the week’s forecast even called for some scattered thunderstorms, but that seems to be changing. I’m cool with that though. Anyway, I’ll be blogging pretty regularly with pics to boot.
Adios …

*Update - We just landed in Phoenix. Harp and the family are out searching for food. The kids are with me. The Wifi here is pretty sweet.

Spending will make you happier, but not in the way you think. Interesting read over at Secular Philosophy.

Chrisopher Hitchens nails it yet again with this piece for Slate Magazine. After reading the piece, I’m inclined to agree with a lot of it.

When flying 35,000 feet above land, I stare down at the natural landscape and marvel at it ... and every time I fly over a city, town, etc. ... I can’t help but to think ... so this is what cancer looks like.
I know, it’s harsh, but have a look, cities and towns just don’t blend very well with the natural landscape.

According to this read over at Dailytech, the XBOX360 has a 33% failure rate! Like what?? Like how much? Like one in every three units will have hardware failure! I love my box ... and I’m touching wood it stays in with the other 66%.

Old news for some of you out there, but “Demon Days” by Gorillaz ... not bad eh? Not bad at all. Nice tunes on that list.

A 16 year old girl proclaimed she is an atheist. The reporter asked her why and she promptly replied, “I was born that way.”
Interesting ... she’s right, you know.

CURRENTLY
Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.
Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.
"Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.
As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
