MEXICO TRIP PT2
It’s Sunday evening and we’re chilling in Balance, a health and snack bar. It sit right next to Brio Gimnasio, a really cool gym. I sorta dragged the peops down here because this is the only place that they have Wifi setup in the entire building. At first I was like WTF?! But after giving it some thought, it makes sense
We’re here on a vacation. So, one of the last things you need to be doing is messing around on the MacBook, while your family is having fun. I think the setup will be nice though. It’ll be easy to come here for an end of day blog session.
So, first off this place is absolutely stunning and I haven’t even seen all of it yet. We spend most of the day just hanging in and around the pool area. Or should I say, one of the countless number they have.
We ate, I had several Pina Collada’s and a severely strong Strawberry Daiquiri that put me over the edge … had to take it easy for the rest of the day.
Since our rooms are joined by a common living room, dining area, and kitchen, Gurpreet (my brother-in-law) and I went out to the local Walmart … hehe … to grab some “necessities” to tide us over for the week. After all we won’t be eating out for every meal.
The local scene is a stark contrast to what I’m used at home. Leaving the resort area , leaves you surrounded by dilapidated buildings, old cars (even saw a 70s VW Beetle), and Policemen who take siesta’s on the hood of their cars … hah!
Despite the rundown look, there is a lot happening in Nuevo and Puerto Vallarta, with a lot of new construction for tourist attractions that no doubt help the local economy. Walmart almost feels like it was transported from the US or Canada and dropped here, as if to make life for the “northerners” … easier.
There’s tons of more stuff to write, but I’ll leave it at that for now. I’ll go around tomorrow and take some more pictures of the grounds and resort for the next post …

Spending will make you happier, but not in the way you think. Interesting read over at Secular Philosophy.

Chrisopher Hitchens nails it yet again with this piece for Slate Magazine. After reading the piece, I’m inclined to agree with a lot of it.

When flying 35,000 feet above land, I stare down at the natural landscape and marvel at it ... and every time I fly over a city, town, etc. ... I can’t help but to think ... so this is what cancer looks like.
I know, it’s harsh, but have a look, cities and towns just don’t blend very well with the natural landscape.

According to this read over at Dailytech, the XBOX360 has a 33% failure rate! Like what?? Like how much? Like one in every three units will have hardware failure! I love my box ... and I’m touching wood it stays in with the other 66%.

Old news for some of you out there, but “Demon Days” by Gorillaz ... not bad eh? Not bad at all. Nice tunes on that list.

A 16 year old girl proclaimed she is an atheist. The reporter asked her why and she promptly replied, “I was born that way.”
Interesting ... she’s right, you know.

CURRENTLY
Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.
Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.
"Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.
As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
