MEXICO TRIP PT3

It’s Tuesday morning around 8.30’ish local time. I’ve just come back from my morning workout. Hey, I know it’s vacation, but something has to be done about the vast quantities of calories being consumed. Everyone’s sleeping so I thought I’d take this moment to start another post.

I’m not sure what the plan for the day’s events entails. Undoubtedly more water fun. Harp and I are going to take an afternoon out to check out a time-share presentation. I know I know … you don’t have to tell me. But there is merit in being involved in a good time-share program, especially in a family as large as ours.

*Update – we were in and out of that lickity split. It was a fair enough presentation and for the most part we liked what we heard, but damn that price was way too much. We walked away with two bottles of Tequila, a voucher for a free dinner for eight, and one less thing to report when we apply for our mortgage.

It’s evening now and the family is winding down. We had an all out water fest late in the afternoon. A war of sorts broke out in the main pool banking the Samba restaurant. In the middle of the pool are this rubber spikes that shoot water about five or six feet straight into the air.

The funny thing about rubber sprinkling spikes … they can bend … and that makes for perfect water guns. All it took was for one of us to bend a spike to aim the water at another, and all out war broke out.

At first it was just within the family, then a Mexican family that we’ve become friendly with, joined in and started shooting in on us. So, we returned fire. The kids started to flank each other, making mad dashes across to unattended spikes.

The idea was simple; get enough water shooting at the face of your opponent that he/she would have to leave the spikes they were shooting from. With all the water shooting in your face it’s hard to remain fixed in your position.

It got so fun and intense, the patrons of the restaurant were laughing as well as the hotel employees … I have to admit … we put on quite the show. Eventually we called a truce, swam over to each other and high-fived each other. With another three days left, there’s plenty more fun to be had in the pool.

Wednesday morning now and today brings a new day of Tequila Volleyball … just like volleyball, played in water, with the stipulation that if you’re the cause of your team losing a point, you take a shot of a Tequila mix … some normal beach volleyball, some water basketball and then just a lazy swim in the Lazy River.

  • Kingdom of Heaven

Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.

  • The God Delusion : Richard Dawkins

Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.

  • Hopes and Fears : Keane

"Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.

  • Gears Of War

As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
