NINTENDO PROPS

Nintendo Tree
The Nintendo Tree and all the ones I’ve ever owned

I’m part of the Nintendo Generation. The 80’s probably could have been about much more and no doubt they were. But the 80’s also brought to me a new level of gaming I have never turned back from.

First there was the Nintendo NES, then the Super NES, the Nintendo 64, the Gamecube, and now the venerable Wii. This line spawned the sidekick Gameboy, which led to the Gameboy Advance, the Gameboy SP, the Nintendo DS and now the Nintendo DS Lite.

The consoles have been one thing, but to be quite honest, the main reason why I’ve stuck it through with Nintendo for so long has been because of the company’s Mario based games. You’d be hard pressed to find a better serious of games on any platform … period. Ranging from the main quest to defeat Bowser to the sport derivations and the ever popular Mario Party series, the games have never failed to deliver.

I’m 35 now, and I still get as much kick out of the games now as I did with I was in my early teens. And my soon to be 4 year old son does is coming along for the ride too.

Nintendo has officially spanned a generation in that The Little Man and Little Lady will be playing the next gen versions of the consoles, portable units, and Mario games that come from Nintendo. The guys there have got it right.

They’ve never been about flashy graphics, incredible realism, or uber l33t gaming. It’s been about fun … and no matter what they’ve pumped out; you could never say it wasn’t fun. And now with the Wii you get a workout while having fun … but more on that later …

… after The Little Man’s birthday

THINKING

  • Spending will make you happier, but not in the way you think. Interesting read over at Secular Philosophy.

  • When flying 35,000 feet above land, I stare down at the natural landscape and marvel at it ... and every time I fly over a city, town, etc. ... I can’t help but to think ... so this is what cancer looks like.

I know, it’s harsh, but have a look, cities and towns just don’t blend very well with the natural landscape.

  • According to this read over at Dailytech, the XBOX360 has a 33% failure rate! Like what?? Like how much? Like one in every three units will have hardware failure! I love my box ... and I’m touching wood it stays in with the other 66%.

  • Old news for some of you out there, but “Demon Days” by Gorillaz ... not bad eh? Not bad at all. Nice tunes on that list.

  • Yes it’s true .. i know Gorn and I also know ShoeGirl. Personally, I think he could have gone a lot more than 30 days.

  • A 16 year old girl proclaimed she is an atheist. The reporter asked her why and she promptly replied, “I was born that way.”

Interesting ... she’s right, you know.

CURRENTLY

  • Kingdom of Heaven

Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.

  • The God Delusion : Richard Dawkins

Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.

  • Hopes and Fears : Keane

"Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.

  • Gears Of War

As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
