SMALL MIRACLES
I’m adding this here as an addendum to the original post. I’m not sure how this happened, but how does a post, living on your website for so long, go un-noticed. This post would be one where you’d surely be expecting comments. You check every week and none are entered, not even from the people you would expect them to come from.
Then you realize, that although you have been able to preview the post, it’s never actually been activated on the site. Why? Because you set the post-dated date to 2008!! No big deal in most cases, but when the post concerns the birth of your baby niece Rihanna, the beautiful baby girl of your sister, umm … “ooops” just doesn’t explain it.
Mars and I had a good chuckle about it this morning … and the beauty of having the type of relationship as we’ve had while growing up together is, this … she knew full well there was no way I would have left out Rihanna’s birth here on the site, and that there was a perfectly good reason to why it hasn’t appeared yet.
Anyway, date changed and here’s the original post:
We got the news a late in the day, the three hour time difference the only seperation from us being with them. For many years, Harp and I had shared many long talks with them about this day and the fact that it would one day come.
No matter how far that day seemed to be, or for that matter, whether it would even come, we’d talk. Harp would spend long nights talking to my sister, feeling and sharing what she and her husband were going through. As for me, I just knew, I always knew that it would. For me, it was never a question.
And on January 4th of 2007, at 9.20 in the morning, Rihanna, the daughter of Marlene and Satwant, was born. Our little niece came a whole month early. Just a tiny angel no bigger than your hand, who had the power to bring an entire family enough joy to fill a lifetime.

To my Sister,
There has never been a time I have wanted to be with you more, to share with you, as your brother, one of the most important days of your life.
Take heart, little sis, and know that although I can’t be there with you now, I have never felt more joy for you than this at this very moment.
Send Sid my love, and give Rihanna a kiss from us all (especially our two little’uns).
love, your brother
Navin
So, that was the original post. I’ve added some updated pics of Little Ri. Uh oh, I’ve already got my nickname for here:

Spending will make you happier, but not in the way you think. Interesting read over at Secular Philosophy.

Chrisopher Hitchens nails it yet again with this piece for Slate Magazine. After reading the piece, I’m inclined to agree with a lot of it.

When flying 35,000 feet above land, I stare down at the natural landscape and marvel at it ... and every time I fly over a city, town, etc. ... I can’t help but to think ... so this is what cancer looks like.
I know, it’s harsh, but have a look, cities and towns just don’t blend very well with the natural landscape.

According to this read over at Dailytech, the XBOX360 has a 33% failure rate! Like what?? Like how much? Like one in every three units will have hardware failure! I love my box ... and I’m touching wood it stays in with the other 66%.

Old news for some of you out there, but “Demon Days” by Gorillaz ... not bad eh? Not bad at all. Nice tunes on that list.

A 16 year old girl proclaimed she is an atheist. The reporter asked her why and she promptly replied, “I was born that way.”
Interesting ... she’s right, you know.

CURRENTLY
Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.
Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.
"Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.
As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
