WINDS OF CHANGE
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything “new,” but as always that goes up to the never-ending excuse of being busy. Which, at least for this time around, is completely true. But there have been other influences…
Training has been going really well. In just four weeks, the weight has dropped 11 lbs. To be honest, that’s a little too much, but things should settle into a rhythm of two lbs or less per week, a better and healthier drop rate.
Other than that I’ve taken some necessary steps in the hopes to advance my career. There are a couple of things I feel I need to polish in the skill set as a Flash Designer/Developer. And to do that, I need to work on more projects, but it’s not just the quantity of the projects, it’s the quality of the projects.
I want to position myself with all the cutting edge designing and development that is being done with Flash. At my current gig, there’s a great deal of promise for just that, but for very understandable reasons, other needs have to be addressed first.
I simply can’t wait that long. We all have personal goals and aims with regards to our careers and I think it important that you don’t lose sight of them. The trouble is, I have made some great friends at my current gig, who all share the same vision I had for the company, but I can’t wait for it all to come around. And so, I have decided to move on.
It’s without doubt, one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. Handing my resignation letter to the CTO of the company had me in shakes. He’s someone I’ve enjoyed working for … and to be frank, given the right circumstances, would do again in a heartbeat.
But the new outfit has got some voodoo gigs to work on. They’re working with Fuse and Papervision 3D. They’re pushing the envelope in development and design with Flash, and it’s where I need to be.
It’s a bittersweet time, this…

Spending will make you happier, but not in the way you think. Interesting read over at Secular Philosophy.

Chrisopher Hitchens nails it yet again with this piece for Slate Magazine. After reading the piece, I’m inclined to agree with a lot of it.

When flying 35,000 feet above land, I stare down at the natural landscape and marvel at it ... and every time I fly over a city, town, etc. ... I can’t help but to think ... so this is what cancer looks like.
I know, it’s harsh, but have a look, cities and towns just don’t blend very well with the natural landscape.

According to this read over at Dailytech, the XBOX360 has a 33% failure rate! Like what?? Like how much? Like one in every three units will have hardware failure! I love my box ... and I’m touching wood it stays in with the other 66%.

Old news for some of you out there, but “Demon Days” by Gorillaz ... not bad eh? Not bad at all. Nice tunes on that list.

A 16 year old girl proclaimed she is an atheist. The reporter asked her why and she promptly replied, “I was born that way.”
Interesting ... she’s right, you know.

CURRENTLY
Kingdom Of Heaven: The story of Balian’s quest for redemption and his battles against those who seek power in it’s name. This is an excellent movie whose message is perhaps more important today than it was then.
Dawkins tackles it all in his no holds barred approach to whether God exists. The stance? The probability of it? Very unlikely.
"Hopes and Fears” and “Under The Iron Sea” by Keane get constant play from my iTunes. Find out why their music is so good. After all they were the band that inspired Coldplay.
As Marcus Fenix, you fight a war against the immense Locust Horde, which not only out powers but outnumbers you, your squad, and the entire force of the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Time to pull out the stops in a game that delivers the next-generation in tactical combat systems in Gears of War.
